About NDRL
The Laboratory for Neurodevelopment of Reading and Language (NDRL) is a research laboratory under the Department of Language Science and Technology (LST), Faculty of Humanities, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Our research direction mainly lies in the areas of language and cognition development, language disorders (e.g., aphasia), and reading disabilities in children with specific learning difficulties (e.g., developmental dyslexia, deaf and hard-of-hearing, DLD, ASD, ADHD, etc.).
We are interested in exploring the cognitive and neuroanatomical mechanisms involved in language processing, particularly, reading and writing. We utilize both behavioral methods and neuroimaging techniques (fMRI, EEG) to investigate the development of literacy skills across the lifespan, aiming to apply our research findings to educational and clinical settings.
